Located in a strip mall on Decker Boulevard near Pervical Road, Santa Fe has all the familiar fare you’d expect from a Mexican-American restaurant on its standard menu, like burritos and combination plates — but a banner hanging from the ceiling in the dining room hints at some of the more authentic offerings, like sopes, tacos and tortas. This week’s Bite is a hearty, value-priced torta of slow-cooked, pulled barbacoa beef, served on a crusty telera roll with a big spread of mayonnaise on one side (they don’t hold back) and refried beans on the other. The sandwich is topped with slices of avocado, pickled jalapeño and tomato. Check out the salsa bar for some additional toppings that go well with the rich barbacoa, like salsa verde, fresh cilantro, red onion and radish. — Jonathan Sharpe
