The India Pale Ale (IPA) is the most popular craft beer style in North America. Many versions of the style are so big in flavor, bitterness and alcohol, however, that they can be palate fatiguing; these are not beers that many people will stay with for an afternoon in the outdoors or for a long evening. Some brewers recognize this and are trying to find an alternative.

Founders’ All Day IPA is one such alternative and its name describes the brewery’s intent. This brew has the aroma and flavor of fresh pine with a hint of grapefruit and resin and only a hint of sweet malt; the finish is mild but satisfying bitterness. The body is thinner than a typical IPA — and that, with the lower alcohol content, make this a pleasant session beer for those times that a big IPA is just too big. Cheers!
