Aerospace giant Boeing has selected GKN Aerospace to produce winglets for its 737 MAX airplane, according to the Charleston Post and Courier. GKN, which is based in England, has a production facility in Orangeburg that will figure heavily in the assembly of the advanced technology part. Wingtips in the 737 MAX are designed to reduce drag and help the aircraft fly better over long distances. The GKN plant in Orangeburg opened last year with 75 employees, and that number is expected to swell to 300 over the next several years.
