So you are the makeup artist for the event — how did you get involved with M2 Boutique?
My friend Asia works at MAC, and she called me last minute because she couldn’t make it, and she thought I should do it. I’ve worked with Carissa in the past, so I requested the day off, and it just worked out perfectly.
Who is Carissa?
She is the owner of M2 Boutique.
What is M2 Boutique?
It is a classy, upbeat urban boutique where you can find unique things at a good price.
Where do people that shop at M2 Boutique like to go out at night?
Well, I like to go to Blue. If I want to dance I like to go to Jillian’s. Sometimes I will go to Wet Willie’s, but it kinda depends on the night.
It sounds to me like you aren’t a fan of Five Points.
Not so much, but I love Five Points on Tuesdays. I will go to CJ’s for karaoke and I love it. It is so much fun.
What is your dream as a makeup artist?
My dream is to create a line of makeup that caters to women of color. A lot of the time, people who are Indian or African-American can’t find the right makeup in those big department stores. I want to have a makeup that can cater to everyone.
What are some of the biggest makeup mistakes that you have seen out at night?
Shadow and no mascara. Please, ladies, stop doing that. If you have crazy brows, tame them, trim them, do something. Keep a napkin handy because if you are wearing red lipstick, nine times out of 10, it is on your teeth. Use concealer. It is a girl’s best friend, even if you don’t wear foundation.
