Name: Lane Smith (right)
Setting: Pinch (640 Harden St.)
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Pinch, but it looks like they have grown. What is your favorite thing about this place?
Definitely the music and the vibe. Pinch gives out great vibes.
What kind of people would you say come to Pinch?
A good mix of different people. The crowd is very diverse and welcoming.
What do you think about their new upstairs addition?
It’s a different environment than downstairs. It’s a great break from the action downstairs.
How does Pinch compare to other bars in Five Points?
It’s much more fun.
What kind of music do they play here?
The greatest selection of music from the greatest artists ever. The best of the classics and current top hits that everyone can sing along to.
I notice you have a fish tattoo. Whats the story behind that?
The tattoo comes from a line from the Sufi poet Jalal al-Din Muhammad Rumi. The type of fish was chosen because it is my favorite to fish for.
What is the line?
“The ocean pours through a jar, and you might say it swims inside the fish.”
What are your other hobbies?
Shark wrestling and gator thumping!
Are you a student at USC? What do you study?
Yes. A senior history and anthropology student.
If you could have any super power what would it be? What your superhero name be?
My power would be to talk to animals. And my superhero name would definitely be Eliza Thornberry.
