From time to time, an eccentric person runs for office. The late Abe Hirshfeld of New York comes immediately to mind. I sincerly believe Alvin Greene used most of his savings to pay the election filing fee. Now, why did Greene get the majority of the votes? It would be nice if the voting machines were proven to have flipped the ballots. But I have to confess that in past general elections I have voted for Democratic candidates whom I knew nothing about. It never occured to me I could be voting for someone with no ability to hold the office. I have the sinking feeling that Mr. Greene was elected fair-and-square by an uninformed electorate.

I thought the writer of this piece did a nice job of looking at the actually story and not being a jerk to Greene. I'm not a fan of Greene, but it seems unfair to completely rip on him after his win. Even if no one knew who he was when they voted for him.
