Not sure why audience will be more concerned about hired ex-military (some maybe Americans) as villianous pawns vs. the issue of a beautiful planet/native people threatened with losing their way of life.

Thank you for this article. I agree with you on many of points you brought up. This movie was one of the most enjoyable films I have ever seen, and once you have a chance to think about what it really means beyond the spectacular special effects, the visual elements, the great acting and just the right amount of action/drama/comedy that make it an amazing experience, you find yourself left with a lot of food for thought. With so many movies and theories on what would happen to planet earth and the human kind if aliens came here because they want something that we have, and humans will fight for their existence, it is very realistic that in the case the human kind will find another planet we will presume to know what they want, and will not hesitate to use force to get it. Even if it is to solve our own crisis back here on planet earth. You are right - there is a very strong connotation here by Cameron to show that the movie story line is not so different then what is happening today. the only difference is that its humans against humans (and not just by Americans). We have wars because we don't respect each other's cultures and we don't make any attempt to understand each other's needs and we certainly don't cooperate enough with each other for the sake of all mankind.. We fight each other now (as we always have been) what makes us think we won't fight aliens of other planets if they indeed exist? Another point to remember is that history repeats itself. ( don't the Na'Vi remind you of the American Indians?). Going back many years we will find many similar stories, so you see - the story itself is very realistic. Kinda makes you think about what being human means.

Wow!! It really makes you think about what people would do to get somthing and how much love is important in this world. With out love there would be o reason to live. Like in the movie jake falls in love with zoe and doesn't want to fight the Na'vi anymore.
