I guess the question that really matters is this. Do they spend more time at the Statehouse thinking about who is sleeping with who or about what we're going to do about the schools? And think about this: who has more to lose by lying here? If Folks is fabricating this, he will not only be excoriated by millions of people, but he will be open for a libel/slander suit, as well as possible criminal charges. On the other hand, Haley has every reason to lie right now. So even though I don't know any more about this than the rest of us, I'm still willing to put my money on the veracity of Will Folks' version.

My guess is that more will come of this. This isn't over by a long shot. The already posted txt msgs kind of cast doubt and several sources have declined to comment. As the leading candidate, I'm surprised NH hasn't come out to denounce that other actions or instances that go beyond an affair did not happen. Lets face it, their all using technical/legal jargon at this point. Her definition of an affair is probably an extra-marital emotional involvement serious in nature and in duration. I'm guessing that "hooking up" with Folks a few times hardly qualifies as an affair. Some might question why a good looking woman like NH would fool around with someone as odd looking as Folks? Well, she's accomplished, probably well educated and can hold a decent conversation on politics, which is something Folks can engage her in. I seriously doubt her husband gets her and probably didn't pay her the attention she commanded. So...I could see this happening. Also remember that Folks admitted a physical relationship, not an affair. She'll win the primary, but this story is going to get bigger and uglier. I think she'll get elected governor regardless due to party loyalties in SC. However, I think that this says that we're tolerating something thats been socially acceptable in Europe for a long time amongst people in positions of power (infidelity, adultry, mistresses, affairs, etc...).

The gold ole boy Republicans don't seem to care that the SC Treasurer Converse Chellis was accused of sexual harrassment by his long-time business partner and settled out of court for a very large amount. They don't seem to care that Andre Bauer drives 100 miles per hour and runs red lights (causing police to get out guns drawn) and compares people to animals. They even allowed Sanford to stay in office even though he brought more ridicule to the state. Personally, I hope Haley does win the nomination: it will give the Democrats someone who is easy to beat.
