A ruthless slum lord for our governor, now wouldn't that just be perfect for the state of SC!? It seems that SC politicians continue to represent us as disrespectful hicks. Where was McMaster when our current governator, Mark Sanford, deserted his position and left no one in authority. But this latest slumlord question has the perfect reaction for what one could rightly call a "sleazy lawyer" to say- deny, deny. Just please don't ask the Catholic Pope to canonize him, let us vote in SC first!

As a parent,my daughter is in one of their homes and the condition is terrible. There has not been any maintenace done on these homes for years.Broken windows, holes in walls, faulty wiring etc.As a resident of SC for 33 years and employer of over 200 employees in the state my concern is how can McMasters think he can govern our state when he can't even manage and maintain these homes in a habitable condition. He can not band-aid problems that need to be solved in our state like he has these homes .With the high rent these students/parents are paying the homes should be in better repair.A strong businessperson/leader would understand the value of maintaining their assets for future value.Business 101.

What am I missing here? Surely the tenants saw the property before signing a lease, right? If not, that's really stupid. So, surely they would have seen holes in walls, broken windows, etc. There are plenty of places around campus to rent, if these properties were in such disrepair, they should've rented elsewhere. Did McMaster somehow force them to rent from him? It's a free-market people. And @tim -- I have to assume you either are with the Bailout Barrett campaign and just made up the daughter story. I can't imagine any father allowing their daughter to rent and live in a place that is so deplorable and dangerous with faulty wiring -- I know mine never would've.
