Clements definitely sounds like the one to support for disaffected Democrats and Republicans. Check him out: http://clementsforsenate.com/ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Tom-Clements-for-US-Senate/128952760459672

Good, detailed report about the issues.

Wow, for a Tea Party darling, DeMint's response is extremely lame and hypocritical. "DeMint believes the federal government has placed unfair obstacles on the nuclear power industry in the past and that more favorable policies are justified to jumpstart the industry now." By "more favorable policies" does he mean promised future bailouts? Because that's all that nuclear loan guarantees are. Little secret that the nuclear industry and its sponsored politicians don't want you to know: nuclear plants stopped getting built because the private sector refuses to insure them - they are simply too big a financial and safety risk. The only way DeMint and friends can help out the nuclear industry is by getting them billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies and loan guarantees, aka promised bailouts. Tom Clements is a good man and a straight talker. Vote Clements and throw out the corporate-sponsored hypocrites that have poisoned the climate in Washington.

Clements throws around Areva's name in hopes of capitalizing on anti-foreigner sentiments in the South Carolina electorate, but his statements that “They’ve sold out to the nuclear industry. Particularly to the French company Areva.” are just not true. I defy Clements to show that Areva has fared any better in connection with the loan guarantee program than has Westinghouse, based right here in the good old USA.

I just hope to see Tom Clements is allowed to be in the debates with DeMint and Greene. It will be a showcase of what is wrong with the two party system.

Clements views are typical of the piffle that comes from the left. Harmful to the economy of the US and costly to the low and moderate income, his actions as Senator will create a lot more poor people and suffering households in our country. Back under your rock, Tom, and quickly.

You better believe the French are faring well under the U.S. taxpayer-backed federal nuclear power loan guarantee program: the next new reactor loan guarantee award will likely go to a French Areva designed "Evolutionary Power Reactor" (called a European Pressurized Reactor in Europe), being pushed by UniStar, a joint venture by Constellation Energy of Baltimore and Electricite de France, of, well, Paris -- as in France. Both Areva and Electricite de France are 85-90% French government owned. A loan guarantee has already been awarded by the US Dept. of Energy to Areva for a uranium enrichment facility in Idaho. The Congressional Budget Office has predicted that over half of nuclear loan guarantee projects will default on their loan repayments, leaving U.S. taxpayers holding the bag to the tune of BILLIONS. Oh la vache! It's a coup d'etat against the US Treasury! Those darn French entrepreneurs nucleaire! Beware your wallet, American taxpayers. So much for "Freedom Fries" -- how about "Freedom Fission"? Reprocessing would take the cake -- and eat it too. Areva of France would just LOVE to pocket $100 billion or more to extract plutonium from U.S. high level radioactive waste, for supposed "recycle" as reactor fuel. Too bad those French plutonium fuel rods being tested in the Carolinas proved defective. Not to worry, Areva's getting paid anyway, again by the U.S. DOE, to turn weapons plutonium into reactor fuel, at Savannah River Site. When did we surrender our sovereignty and Treasury to the French atomic establishment? Oh, within the past decade or so...
