Tim - Thanks for turning me on to Jasmine, it is definitely good. I have yet to try the buffet but it looks solid.
For taquerias, I also recommend Taqueria Mi Pueblita II on Highway 1 near 26, and the 3-4 taquerias/panaderias/supermercato stores on 378 near the chicken processing plant. One of them is called Mariachi, a full service grocery, restaurant, and cell phone store. They serve full breakfast too, including huevos rancheros.

I definitely understand the sentiment of not wanting to give up your favorite secret spots! But these days I guess the little hidden gems need all the help they can get to stay open.. Anyhow great piece and thanks for the tip! I'm so there when I'm in town next week. Maybe I'll take some pictures.

I second Taqueria Mi Pueblita. Its very good. I am a little upset about you mentioning the bakery. That has been my hidden treasure. I have been meaning to try the places on 378. I see one place advertises tamales. I never tried them before.

Both Taqueria Jasmin and the the bakery are in the Wentworth Printing strip mall on 12th street and Hwy 1 in West Columbia. A few blocks down from the Zesto on 12th street.

Even better than II is the original Taqueria Mi Pueblito, at the intersection of 1 and 378, behind Rush's, in Lexington. Todo muy sabroso.

Thanks, Tim! I love getting into thee smaller, one-off establishments. The chain and bigger places in Columbia just don't offer any character or as much variety to the pallet! Thank you!
