Federal, state, and local governments are still spending like the good times are a rolling. More taxes and heavier burden on the general public is not the answer to fix the economic nightmare. We are Americans lets us create jobs, inovate our way out of the problem.
If the government really wanted to sovle the economy over night, they could release the technology that the military holds secret into the private sector. New technolgy drove the 80's and 90's and the new technology is the easiest way to fix the problem. Even the preditor capitalism of "constant expansion" could be maintained with new technolgy in the marketplace.
SR-71 blackbird (fastest plane ever) built in the 1960's with 1950's technology come, someone is withholding.

You are precisely correct; a new order of technology and know-how is our only salvation...but when the President terminates the manned spaceflight program, where much of that innovation we have enjoyed over the last half century originated, all hope is gone.

There is no way this federal government is going to reduce spending. Period. The military-industria-educational-welfare complex (MIEW) will never accept cuts to its bloated budgets. Get over it. This discussion in Cola and 19 other cities is a joke.
