Shared Traditions - Sacred Music in the South

McKissick Museum, USC's School of Music and Brookland Baptist Church have partnered to present the symposium Shared Traditions: Sacred Music in the South. On Friday, there will be a curator-led tour of the exhibition Heard at Every Turn at McKissick Museum, followed by a presentation on "The African-American Spiritual Tradition in the Sea Islands" and a concert by Aunt Perlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk. Saturday will feature panel presentations, a keynote speech, music workshops, and a shape-note concert at Brookland Baptist Church.
