It’s odd to think that pop-punk’s heyday — that strange time when New Found Glory was a Warped Tour constant, and you couldn’t go grocery shopping without hearing The Offspring — was more than 15 years ago. Time has passed, but local band The Harlem Downtrotters still do the style right. The 14 songs on the new LP Don’t Panic! are loaded with all of the melody and youthful exuberance that made the genre so appealing in the first place. The hooks are buttressed by ruggedly bright harmonies, and the lyrics are largely concerned with girls and toilet humor, recalling Dude Ranch-era Blink 182 in the best possible way.
