Jadeveon Clowney likes to drive fast: The famed Gamecock defensive end got another speeding ticket, his second in three weeks. The Columbia police cited him last week for going 84 in a 55-mph zone on I-26. Coach Steve Spurrier's response: "At least he'll have enough money to pay for it a week or so from now. He needs to go to driving school. Hopefully they'll send him there after the bowl game."
Gov. Nikki Haley got a gun for Christmas. A Beretta PX4 Storm, specifically. Everyone's talking about it.
The Catawba Indian Nation is bringing high-stakes bingo to Rock Hill — specifically to a former Bi-Lo near I-77. The tribe ran a bingo operation once before, from 1997 to 2006; according to the Rock Hill Herald, the tribe closed that business because "competition from the S.C. Education Lottery stifled profits."
Columbia developer Alan Kahn, who built the Village at Sandhill, has proposed a bankruptcy plan to pay back his creditors less than 5 cents on the dollar on the $55 million or more he owes. But weep not for Kahn: According to reporter Roddie Burris, the proposed plan "would leave the 73-year-old Kahn poised to retire in two years with many of his personal assets still in place, including a $1.8 million retirement plan, a Paris apartment, and mortgaged houses and undeveloped property in Columbia and on the Isle of Palms."
The Cayce Riverwalk is flooded. Don't go there for a while.
