Lowcountry Island Noodles
Big woks produce plenty of noodles to go around.

Saturday, local market Soda City will host Lowcountry Island Noodles for its first appearance in Columbia. The small chain specializes in vegan Hawaiian style wok-fired soba noodles. Yes, vegan!

The buckwheat yaki soba noodles are stir fried with garlic, ginger and an assortment of 21 fresh vegetables, plus of course a special secret island sauce. If you try them, let us know if you miss the meat in this meal.

Owner Hale Lake is a Hawaiian native who started his company in 1995. Island Noodles can be found in eight other states, and specializes in serving at festivals and fairs.

Soda City Market occurs every Saturday on the 1400-1500 blocks of Main Street from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
