What’s kombucha? It’s fermented black tea, basically — but that description does little to embody the many wonderful health benefits attributed to the effervescent, slightly sweet drink.

April Blake, local food writer (and, full disclosure, a frequent Free Times contributor), teaches a class on making kombucha Monday, June 30, in downtown Columbia.

The workshop kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Nest, 1450 Main St. (in the Marriott building at the corner of Main and Hampton). Attendance is $35 per person and includes materials. You can register online here.
