Free dessert for life? The price is right if you put a cool grand into the GoFundMe campaign for My Dessert Bar, a full service dessert catering company and bakeshop that's looking to make its home on State Street in West Columbia. Owner Shennice Cleckley is aiming to raise $5,000 for startup to get her venture off of the ground. This model of funding where she offers free dessert for life is based on a model that proved to work well for a brewpub in Minneapolis.
If you're not looking to get a daily dose of cakepop 'til you die, lower contribution levels can earn you a cakepop a day for a year, or even just six months. The bakery's new home will be located on the west side of the river, so a short detour wouldn't be out of the way. To donate to My Dessert Bar or for more information, check out the GoFundMe page.
