Columbia is really coming into its own as a bustling city, with multiple kinds of tours being offered about its history, emerging brew scene and the newest one — walking food tours. Kristin and Brian Cole are offering their maiden tour on Friday, May 16, where they’ll take folks to five to seven local restaurants.
Both tourists and locals will learn about the history of Columbia’s food culture, local cuisine, and will get to taste plenty of samples from the featured restaurants along the way. Tours begin on the State House steps and last between two and a half to three hours in length. The Cole’s website says that the amount of food consumed along the way is equivalent to a meal and should leave most participants more than satisfied. Tours will run in the summer and through the fall, but don’t worry about the famous heat — the Coles promise that no one will be outside for more than 10 minutes between stops without a chance to slip into the cool AC along the way. Tours are currently scheduled through mid-July for Friday and Saturday afternoons.
