Camden Welcomes First Distillery

The city of Camden is opening its first distillery on Saturday, April 26. Dark Water Distillery will only sell 100-proof moonshine corn whiskey at first, but plans to release a bourbon line in July of this year. The distillery is located at 923 Broad St. in downtown Camden and is owned by Carl Monday, who felt an urge to share something unique to the city.

“People always have a passion for creating something that’s their own, and I wanted to give people something unique that they couldn’t get anywhere else in Camden,” he states via press release. “I wanted to offer a popular item but do something on my own.”

The business will also offer different moonshine flavors including apple pie, cherry, peach and muscadine in the future.
