Soda City Market Founder Emile DeFelice Running for Agriculture Commissioner

2006: The Rematch

Emile DeFelice announced via Twitter selfie today that he is running for state Commissioner of Agriculture. Update: He's running on the American Party ticket.

The race will be a rematch of 2006, when DeFelice squared off against Republican Hugh Weathers for the open seat. In that race, Weathers won with 60 percent of the vote to DeFelice’s 40 percent.

Weathers has been in office ever since; he announced recently he’ll run for a third term.

DeFelice, meanwhile, has spent the intervening eight years founding the All Local Farmers Market, which he later turned into the downtown Soda City Market. He got out of the pig farming business last year when he shut down Caw Caw Creek Pastured Pork.
