WLTX executive producer [and, full disclosure, friend of this writer] Scott Cooke ate a Carolina Reaper pepper live on air last night.
The Guinness Book of World Records recently awarded the South Carolina-grown Reaper the title of world’s hottest pepper. Clocking in at more than 1.5 million Scoville units, the pepper is many, many times hotter than the average jalapeño, which measures between 5,000 and 15,000 Scoville units.
Lots of people vomit when they eat the Reaper, but Cooke managed to keep it down — at least on the air. But a few hours later, he was tweeting about the stomach cramping and dilated pupils…

As for the implication that yours truly might have been faking sick to get out of trying the Reaper?
